Prayer at Gwinnett County Courthouse - New Opportunity!
A new door has opened in Gwinnett County for us to visit and pray with people awaiting trial at the Gwinnett County Courthouse. We have found that people awaiting trial are very receptive to prayer. God is using this unique prayer opportunity to produce much fruit and bring many people to faith in Christ. We are currently recruiting individuals, groups, and families who will commit to praying at the courthouse for one hour weekly, monthly, or quarterly. Prayer opportunities are available Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 11:30 AM and 1 - 4 PM. For more information about this new opportunity, contact Bryan Westbrook at 770-995-9918 .

Additional Opportunities to Serve
  • Lead in Worship: help give at-risk youth the opportunity to worship
  • Mentoring: being a friend to one of the kids we work with who have no adult role model
  • Prayer Support: help provide prayer covering that God would work in the hearts of the youth
  • Small Group Discussion: involves helping kids answer questions about faith and life

Finding New Purpose... at Gwinnett Youth Detention Center
By Bryan Westbrook
In the last 8 to 10 months we have seen God answering many prayers and working in the lives of boys and girls in the Gwinnett Youth Detention Center. The following are several stories that come to mind of God working through Perimeter to bring others into "life-transforming encounters with the kingdom of God." Through our Monday night ministry at the Gwinnett Youth Detention Center, two young men became followers of Christ. They experienced significant spiritual growth, and began to lead prayer groups and small group Bible studies at the Gwinnett YDC. One of the boys was transferred and is now teaching a Bible study at the facility in Milledgeville. He recently wrote to tell us that a group of Muslim boys are now coming to the study and investigating the claims of Christ.

Recently one of our volunteers was at a picnic with friends and met the mother of a boy who came to Christ while at the Gwinnett Youth Detention Center. This mom expressed that her son had shared with her about his excitement regarding his walk with God.

Another young man that has been involved in gangs for several years recently told me how God is helping him deal with his anger problem. Now he regularly prays for his enemies.

Speaking of prayer, we have often asked for people to pray for the volunteers as they minister to the boys and girls at the Gwinnett YDC. One particular story comes to mind. Richard Hursey leads the Gwinnett YDC ministry, and is occasionally called on to lead a Thursday morning devotion at an Assisted Living Home in Lilburn. Richard noticed many of the senior citizens felt like they had no purpose for living and that God could not use them. He challenged them to form a prayer group to pray for the boys and girls at the Gwinnett YDC. Now, whenever Richard is called on, he reads the seniors letters from the kids and shares with them testimonies of changed lives. This really fuels the fire of the now growing prayer group. These senior citizens are now very excited about being used of God to build His Kingdom. Praise God!
