The Academy of the Arts at Perimeter promotes the beauty and wonder of a variety of the fine and performing arts. Our instructors and staff are hand-picked and highly qualified professionals in their craft with a love of God that is reflected in their testimony and membership in a local church. Teachers are uniquely gifted to draw out the artist within each student with a balance of encouragement and challenge according to each student's God-given ability. Academy instructors are vested and undergo a thorough interview process to ensure an atmosphere that is welcoming, stimulating and engaging. It is a joy to serve you - our students and families - and your comments are always welcomed as we seek to meet and exceed your expectations in the arts.
General Information
Class meeting times may vary within the various schools. Please check the information you receive from your teachers very carefully as dates are subject to change. Communication is very important and we do everything we can to ensure that you receive all information. In order to reach parents quickly, each teacher maintains a notebook with an updated roster and emergency phone numbers inside their classrooms. Should your contact information change, please call Carol McLees at 678-405-2337 with correct information.
For the safety of your children, please use the Day Entrance when entering and leaving the building. An adult must escort children under the age of 10 to and from classes or private lessons, unless prior arrangements are made with the individual instructor. As a courtesy to our staff, please use your Perimeter ID badge or fill out a nametag at the front desk upon entering. Teachers will remain with younger students until they are picked up. If you encounter a problem picking up your child on time, please call your teacher directly or the main office at 678-405-2396 and advise the teacher of the problem. Repeat tardiness and pick ups will result in the student's dismissal from classes or lessons without a refund.
Payments and Registrations
On line registration forms may be printed and mailed with checks to The Academy of the Arts, 9500 Medlock Bridge Road, Johns Creek, GA 30097. Payments and registrations are due for all classes within two weeks of the beginning of the class. An additional $25 dollars will be charged for all late payments.
Private lessons are collected by the individual teacher once a month on the student's first lesson of the month. Please make checks payable to The Academy of the Arts/(name of private lesson...i.e. piano).
Conduct
All students who are eager to learn are welcomed into Academy classes. Some classes are by audition only and will be designated as such prior to the first class. In order to maintain high standards, we rely on active parental participation when it comes to teaching your child. We value our students and their families greatly and are here to help you with the resources of Perimeter Church. Should there be particular circumstances for your child or family that we should be aware of, please let us know. We are here to minister to, disciple and help as well as teach.
In the unlikely event that a student is disruptive in the classroom, he/she will be corrected and may be asked to observe class if necessary. Second warnings will involve the parents and possibly the Director of the Academy. If a problem cannot be resolved, disruptive students may be asked to leave the program without a refund on tuition.
Drugs, alcohol, profanity and inappropriate attire are not acceptable and will result in immediate dismissal. Many of our classes require costumes and/or attire, materials, and musical instruments. Our instructors will work with parents to help supply information on where to purchase supplies and needs. It is recommended that parents and students write names in all materials. A lost and found box is located in the upstairs ballet studio.
Scholarships
The Academy is a self-sustaining organization. Tuition maintains our rooms, pays teachers and administrates our program. A select amount of scholarships are available through the Academy. Should you have a financial need, please contact Academy Director, Cherie Heringer at 678-405-2396. Throughout the year we may have additional fundraisers to maintain our scholarship fund. If you have a love for the arts and would like to contribute to our scholarship fund, we would love to hear from you.
