Becky Brown - Co-Director, School of Ballet
Becky received her training with the Atlanta Ballet and Robert Barnett. She holds a BA in Ballet from Brenau University and performed professionally with the Atlanta, Boston and Savannah Ballets. Becky has over 20 years teaching experience including the development of ballet programs in Savannah, Newnan, and Duke University. She directed the LaGrange Ballet for 6 years. Becky and her husband Roger are members of Perimeter Church and have 2 children, R.J. and Victoria.
Dorothy Schlichting - Co Director, School of Ballet
Dorothy received her training in Dallas from Etgen-Atkinson School of Ballet, and was a member of the Dallas Metropolitan Ballet Company. During her training with DMB she was a recipient of the Ford Foundation Scholarship from the School of American Ballet in New York City. She later performed with Jerry Bywaters-Cochran's Modern Dance Company in Dallas. She attended Texas Christian University where she continued dance studies and performed with TCU's classical ballet and modern dance programs. She holds a BS in Dietetics and Nutrition and is a Registered Dietitian. Dorothy was one of the pioneers beginning the Dance Ministry at Perimeter Church in 1997. Dorothy and her husband Randy are members of Perimeter Church and have 3 daughters.
Instructors
Katie Cloninger: Katie trained under Catherine McBeth at Capital City Ballet and with Ballet Memphis. She has also studied Ballet with Ballet West, Ballet Met, Ballet Magnificat, Burkly Ballet, University of SC, and University of Utah. She has a degree in Dance Performance from Mercyhurst College. Currently Katie is an Artist in Residence with North Atlanta Dance Theater as well as The Academy of the Arts Ballet Company at Perimeter and Dance Ministry Worship.
Jamie Lanier: Jamie trained in Atlanta at Simply Dance and Dance For Joy before joining Praise In Motion Dance Company. Collectively, she performed, taught and choreographed for Praise In Motion for 11 years. Jamie has choreographed many original works and most recently performed "Thirsty", six pieces depicting the journey of finding satisfaction in God alone. Jamie teaches dance because she has a strong desire to first see her students own and love their unique creativity and beauty, and then guide them into expression that is technically excellent and spiritually authentic.
Elizabeth Magee: Elizabeth trained under Pavel Rotaru and danced with Rotaru International Children's Ballet Company. Elizabeth has taught at Thornwell Home and School for Children as well as at Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC. Elizabeth holds a BS in Special Education and teaches in Fulton County. She is an Artist in Residence with The Academy of the Arts Ballet Company At Perimeter as well as participating in Dance Ministry Worship.
Susan McGraw: Susan trained under Lucy Beck and went on to the Gainesville Ballet under the direction of Diane Callahan. She has a BA in Dance Pedagogy and Performance, and has danced professionally with The Gainesville Ballet Professional Ensemble, Ruth Mitchell Dance Theater, Cathy Sharp Dance Ensemble in Switzerland, and many other regional companies as a guest artist. Her teaching experience is extensive including from the college level at UGA as an adjunct faculty member to regional dance studios that include The Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education and she is also involved in Dance Worship Ministry at her church. Susan is on full-time staff at Duluth School of Ballet and enjoys her two children with her husband, Walker.
Rebecca Repp: Rebecca began dancing at the age of three with the Robert Ivey School of Ballet in Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated high school from The Virginia School of the Arts, where she trained in ballet, modern, and jazz.
Becka’s prior training includes two years at the University of Utah’s prestigious dance program, and she graduated from Mercyhurst College in Pennsylvania with a BA in Dance. Upon graduation, she joined The Atlanta Festival Ballet and danced there for three seasons. She has performed multiple soloist roles in The Jungle Book, Peter Pan, and Paquita. Becka has also danced with North Atlanta Dance Theater. She is currently a teacher with The Academy of the Arts Ballet at Perimeter Church and is one of our Artist in Residence.
Diane Stapp Pitts: Diane’s professional dance career includes 10 years of experience performing as both a soloist and a principal dancer with the Dayton Ballet, the Milwaukee Ballet, and the Atlanta Ballet companies. After retiring from the stage, Diane began a career as a systems analyst. She is a summa cum laude graduate from Georgia Tech with a BS in Applied Mathematics. Diane has enjoyed teaching ballet in the Atlanta area for many years and is happy to be a part of the Perimeter Academy of the Arts. Diane and her husband Dave have 2 daughters, Alicia and Jessica.
Office Manager
Carol McLees: Carol is the thread that knits us and holds us all together. Carol brings to our Academy a wealth of experience, wisdom, compassion and administrative skills. She holds a degree in Business from Auburn University and is often the first face and voice you'll hear when you contact the Ballet office. She and her husband Bert are members of Perimeter Church and have 3 daughters. |
