Beacon of Hope New and Improved Yard Sale
Is it time for fall cleaning?  The New and Improved Yard Sale for A Beacon of Hope and The college Women's Center is in need of donations.  Items are being collected now and the yard sale will run though September and October. Please drop off your yard sale items directly to the New Hope Store, owned and managed by Cathy Bailey and located across the street from A Beacon of Hope.  Tax receipts will be made available to you.  We would greatly appreciate it if you would mention that you are a friend of Beacon's. Promise686 Volunteers Needed
Can you cook a meal?  Do you like to shop? Promise 686 is a ministry that supports foster and adoptive families and we need  volunteers to help those families.  Adoption and foster care may require too much of a commitment a this time in your life.  But did you know that thee are many other opportunities to serve that can fit into your busy schedule?  Here are some ways you can help:  make or deliver a meal, shop for clothes and other necessities, baby sit, transport kids, tutor or make a donation.  A small commitment from you can make a big difference!  Please pray about how God would have you support the Promise 686 community.  Contact volunteer@promise686.org or click here to get involved
 
Movers and Shakers Small Group Service Opportunities - September through December
Movers and Shakers is looking for groups (of men, older teens, and families 2-4 members) to help get furniture to those in need.  In addition to to meeting the very real and practical needs of families in our community, this is a low commitment, low stress opportunity for groups to work together, enjoy fellowship, and respond to the call to serve.  Movers and Shakers works approximately 2 Saturdays per month from 8 AM - 2 PM.  Volunteers are needed on these dates:September 11, 18, October 16, 30, November 13, December 4,18.  To volunteer, click here.  For more information contact Lee Williams at lee@atlmoversnshakers.org
 
Arts on the Creek Saturday and Sunday, September 4-5, 2010 at Perimeter Church
Arts on the Creek, Johns Creek, GA.’s only arts festival, is an event featuring local artists in our community. They are seeking volunteers to work a short amount of time, usually two to six hours.  For more information or to register, please visit the Arts on the Creek website.  
 

Creating Self-Worth Through HIM -Sunday, September 5  9:00 AM - 10:30 AM
How and why do our children develop a major portion of their personal value from the perceptions of what others think of them?  Why do they allow "the world" to create their standards?  Join us as Robbie Sherrill, a licensed Christian Counselor, leads this class on role-modeling and teaching self-worth through HIM.  Help your child see himself through God's eyes - lenses of truth. The class  will be held in room A2129 -31
 

Serve and Learn - Rainbow Village - Tuesday September 7 at 5:30 PM

 Connect with and Serve Our Public Schools
Are you connected to a public school?  We invite you to plan a project at your Public School to be salt and light to the school, the staff and families that attend the school.  We invite you to speak to the principal, or counseling department to find out what their biggest needs are,  We also have ideas that could be a great first step to serving the school, with your family, small group, and families from your community.  If you are interested in organizing at a public school that is on your heart, or that you are connected to, please contact Jackie Dieter at 678-405-2122 or email jackied@perimeter.org

 Georgia Race for Autism needs Donations and Volunteers - October 2nd
Can you or your small group help by putting together a themed gift basket or donating an item for a silent auction?  This is a great opportunity to help us raise funds to helping those affected by autism in our  Community as well as providing autism-specific training for educators in our state.  Gwinnett County has one of the highest rates of autism in Georgia.

Prison Ministry: Gwinnett Adult Correctional Facility - Adults Only Project

You are going to have an opportunity to minister, encourage and share the Gospel with these young men & women.  Thursday nights from 7:00 - 9:00 PM. Must be 18 years or older and complete a background check and volunteer application.

The Gwinnett County Department of Corrections is housed in the Comprehensive Correctional Complex, an 800-bed facility located at 750 Hi Hope Road in Lawrenceville. The facility opened in September 2002 and contains 512 beds for medium and minimum-security state and county inmates who are sentenced to full-time incarceration.

Ivy Hall Volunteers Needed

olunteer teacher needed at Ivy Hall Assisted Living (located approx. 1/2 mi. from Perimeter Church) to lead short Bible study for residents on Thursday morning from 10:30 to 11:30.  Volunteer for only once a month or for the summer only.  Contact Pat Poovey at 770.475.4892 for more information. 

 Wellspring Evening Opportunities
Serve and spend time with the ladies of Wellspring. One volunteer group per week can come and visit on a Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday evening. Activities on these evening can vary from bringing and eating dinner with the ladies, game nights, spa nights, makeovers, movie nights, etc. Please contact Alisha at 404.427.3100  if you are interested.

 Wellspring Life Skills Class Volunteers Needed
Life Skills classes equip young ladies to live productive and fulfilling lives. They are held 1:00 - 2:00 pm Monday through Thursday.  To participate, contact Alisha at 404.427.3100.

Wellspring Connection Class Teachers Needed
These classes take place on Monday's and Wednesday's from 1:00-2:00 PM. The subject matter can vary about etiquette, social skills, and/or hygiene/cooking hygiene classes. You do not have to be a trained teacher.  If you are interested, contact Alisha.

 Wellspring Living is in need of a teacher to voluntarily lead the Phase 2 ladies. Curriculum is already in place that you would follow and use as a guide. Class 2 takes place on Tuesday and Thursday at 2:00 until 3:00 PM every week. If you are interested, please respond by email or give me a call at 404.427.3100.

 Beacon of Hope needs new car seats.  They are not able to take used seats because of the safety standards in place.  They will also take $50.00 Walmart gift cards and ABOH will do the purchasing . Additionally, they are very low on baby shampoo, body wash and lotion, combs, thermometers, bibs, and washcloths.  For a complete list of needs click here  Also needed are about 10 people who are willing to make heavy, healthy snacks for 15 pregnant mommies who will be coming to a meeting directly from work and won't have dinner.  An assortment of  fruit, veggie tray, finger sandwiches,  casserole , salad, chicken fingers, pasta salad etc.  You would also provide juice or water and paper goods. You would only be called on to do this once every three months, and you can pick the date. We need these on Tuesday evenings for our life skills classes - called The Bridge. This meal/snack can be dropped off at Beacon anytime that day up until meeting time 6:30 PM.  If you are interested, please contact Pam Gricius.
