Atlanta is a major hub of Commercial Child Sexual Exploitation – also known as the trafficking of children or prostitution of children. We as a team work to help bring awareness to educate the community, raise funding for aftercare facilities, contact government officials regarding the issue and laws that pertain to these children, and most importantly pray for the victims – the children. A lot of people here in Atlanta are not aware of the problem being a state-side issue. They associate prostituted children with something that happens overseas and assume that these are children who want to be living this kind of lifestyle. One of our goals is making sure that the general public understands that children don’t do this as a choice. They are coerced, beaten, drugged and tricked into this lifestyle. Held under lock and key sometimes. I’ve learned that once adults learn the true facts about how children are prostituted, they usually want to join our cause.
What can you do?
We rejoice in the fact that our ING runners and Hydration Station team
raised $8,000, and Rock4Justice raised an additional $11,000. In these
two events, we are able to give $19,000 to Wellspring Living. Glory be
to God! Thank you to all who participated in these events. |
