This 2-week teacher trip is a chance for teachers (elementary through high school) to spend one week training the teachers of Siha Leadership Academy and a second week observing/team teaching in their classrooms as they implement new strategies and content that you have shared. The team departs on Thursday, arriving in Tanzania on Friday night. Saturday and Sunday will be spent visiting sponsored children, preparing for the week, and worshipping at the local church. The first week includes seminars with the teachers from Standard 1 through 7. You will have the opportunity to share tea time and lunch with the teachers, developing lasting friendships and learning about the Tanzanian culture. You will also have the opportunity to visit the local market on Wednesday or Saturday as well as enjoy the walk from the village to our lodging a few miles away if you desire. The second weekend may include a special event with the teachers, or it may be a time for the team to have a day trip into Arusha or Moshi for shopping and a fun lunch. Sunday will be worship and rest. Your second week will be full of fun as the students return from their June break! You will observe in the classrooms, coming alongside the teachers you have taught to help them implement strategies and content from your seminars. This is a time of great encouragement for the teachers and the students and you will be amazed at the students’ (and teachers’) desire to learn and grow! Your final weekend will begin early Saturday morning when the safari driver picks you up from your lodging location. You will head into Arusha to visit one or two of the best “cultural experience” locations. After lunch you will drive to your safari location and enjoy a relaxing evening. On Sunday morning you will wake up early to get into the park for safari! After a day of seeing incredible flora, fauna, mammals, and birds you will head to the Kilimanjaro airport for your journey home. Accommodations for this trip: Western in nature with running water and electricity.
