Dear Friends and Family,

I am writing to let you know that this summer, I have the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Tanzania through Perimeter Church! For this trip, a group of teachers from Perimeter Church and School will be going to Karansi, Tanzania, June 27-July 14, to work with teachers at the Siha Leadership Academy. While I have never been to Tanzania before, I am happy to be going with my own very experienced tour guide and most favorite dad, Van Munn! We are so excited to serve together, and can’t wait for this trip!

 

The Siha Leadership Academy was started by Paster Wariaeli, and continues to grow larger and larger year after year. The students are K-7th grade, and are taught in English by their teachers. For this trip, our team will be spending time with the teachers, giving them tools and resources to incorporate the Bible into their daily lessons (whether they teach math, computers, social studies, etc.), as well as strategies for assessment in their classrooms. Music and drama are considered vocational subjects, skills that can help the students make money later in life, but are not necessarily a vital part of their curriculum. I am so excited to work with these teachers and students, to begin to show them how to incorporate the arts into every subject area and the impact the arts have on the well-being of the students. The team will also visit children who are sponsored through a program called Project Child (https://www.projectchildtz.com/), and will conclude our trip by going on a safari (I apologize in advance for all of the elephant pictures I will be sharing…)!

 

Where am I going?  Karansi, Tanzania; northeast Tanzania, near Arusha and Mt. Kilimanjaro

When am I going? June 27 – July 14

What will I be doing? Training teachers in Biblical integration, assessment strategies, and incorporating music/drama in the curriculum; visiting Project Child sponsorship children

How can you participate?

  • Pray for our team - preparations, unity, health, safety, effectiveness
  • Pray for the teachers and students at the Siha Leadership Academy
  • Pray for growth in my trust in God - that He will provide all we need and will do big things through our team!
