Breakout Sessions

Monique and Grant Wells

White Picket Fences
Monique and Grant Wells

White Picket Fences explores strategies to create healthy boundaries and communication in a marriage. While many distractions want to creep into our marriage space, how we communicate, spend our time, care for and provide comfort in our marriage matters. Expect to leave thinking about who you want on the inside of your white picket fence, and how to be protective of your most valuable relationship.

Monique and Grant Wells, members of Perimeter Church, have two daughters, Emma Clare and Phoebe, and live in Peachtree Corners. Grant operates a Chick-fil-A in Dunwoody. Monique, a marriage therapist, runs a concierge counseling practice focused on healthy families owning healthy family businesses. Together, they have two decades of teaching as adjunct faculty at WinShape Marriage Retreats.

Hope in the Blended

Tom and Sam Rhodes

Hear how God has brought healing in Tom and Sam’s story and learn about biblically based resources that help strengthen step-families, break the generational cycle of divorce, and provide insight and understanding to families that have experienced divorce or the death of a spouse.

Tom and Sam Rhodes have been married for 38 years. They have been at Perimeter since 1990. Tom is an elder and both have served in a variety of lay leadership and staff roles over the years. They have two grown sons, who are married, and one granddaughter. Tom and Sam both grew up in blended families and experienced the complexity and confusion that can come with family relationships after remarriage. They now serve as a part of the advisory board for FamilyLife's Blended Family Ministry, offering hope and healing for step-families.

From Conflict to Thriving

Andy Nelson

All of us hope for our marriages to thrive, but conflict can seem to derail that. We will look at the elements of a thriving marriage and, in particular, look at how our own story and unique family dynamics often lead to marital conflict.

In his role as director of spiritual life at Eagle Ranch, Andy is responsible for spiritual outreach to children and families, including program development, pastoral care, and discipleship. He also provides support and guidance to the staff. Prior to Eagle Ranch, Andy has served as the student ministry pastor and part of the teaching team at Spanish River Church in Boca Raton, Florida, and director of student ministries at Westminster Church in Gainesville, Georgia. He received his bachelor’s degree in speech communication from the University of Georgia. He is currently completing master’s studies in religion with Reformed Theological Seminary. Andy is married to his high school sweetheart Emily and together they have six children.
