Tanzania Medical Team Update #1

Heidi Cantrell | Apr 24, 2018

Hello from Sunny Africa! Well, it's raining today, but we were very blessed our first three days with gorgeous, sunny weather. It was very unexpected and extremely appreciated!

Many of you have heard of our challenges at customs when we arrived Friday night. Our suitcases, full of meds and medical supplies, were confiscated by the agents on duty that night. The letters we brought with us were not enough under the brand new guidelines, but the team members here (Baraka, Maryann, David, and Witness) are working tirelessly to get all the right documentation so that we can have the meds as soon as possible. God is teaching us lot about His sovereignty this week. "The best laid plans..." are His. We don't know the reason for the delay, but we trust that He is working it all for our good and His glory.

It has been a blessing that we are seeing the school children the first two days of the week because they are healthier and need fewer prescriptions. Also, the antibiotics we ordered in Tanzania arrived at the school, and there are a few meds leftover from previous medical trips. God has also blessed our team with great working relationships and new friendships. We have all quickly learned to let go and trust God, and we've adapted to whatever has come our way. Clinic is busy and going well! We have seen over 185 kids so far and this is just the middle of the second day. The PUNCHMI students are such a joy to be around and serve. We are rewarded with sweet smiles, happy songs, and big hugs from the littlest ones.

We will finish up with the students today and begin the open clinic tomorrow (Wednesday). Pray that we have enough medication to treat them as we expect many to be ill. Pray also for continued great teamwork and God's blessings on our efforts here. He has already done so much in this small village! Thank you all for your prayers and support of the mission here in Karansi. God is on the move!
