Jake is going to South Africa

2023 South Africa | July 21 - August 1 Watershed

Jul 21, 2023 - Aug 1, 2023

Dear family and friends,

Hey guys! I wanted to tell you all about what God has done in my life and what he is doing right now. God has given me and 29 other students at perimeter the opportunity to go on a mission to South Africa!

When I had first heard about the possibility of Watershed doing a mission in South Africa, I felt like this opportunity wasn’t for me. I had never truly been to a foreign country before, let alone on a mission trip. I thought it would be cool to go, but that I wouldn’t be able to go. However, over time god showed me that I had leadership skills that I never knew I had through serving the local community around Atlanta, and I discovered that I had a great joy for serving other people. Because of this growth of a servant’s heart within me, I decided to sign up for the mission trip.

During our time in Johannesburg, we will be serving alongside City Hope Church as they serve Impact Africa and Philile. These organizations serve the local community by teaching English and life skills to them as well as offering schooling for inner-city kids. We will play games with them, worship with them, and build relationships with them. We will also get to interact with the youth ministry of City Hope Church, called City Yth.

I am grateful that God is allowing me to serve in this way and opening this door for me, and I would love to invite you on this journey with me. One way you can join me is by joining me in prayer. Pray that God will give me the strength and confidence I need in order to use my abilities as a leader to serve in Johannesburg, and pray that he will give me a servant’s heart now and during the mission. Another way that you can join me is financially. Each student is tasked with raising $3250 in order to cover all funds relating to rooming, travel, and meals, as well as additional costs. This might seem like a large amount, but any amount, small or big, will bring me a step closer to being able to join the team.

I will be posting updates biweekly in order to update everyone on how things are going with the trip and how funding is going.

Thank you for reading and God Bless

Jake Masaschi

Donations are tax-deductible and must be made payable to Perimeter Church, who is training and sending the team and who requests that this be above your regular tithe and offerings to your local church. If I raise more than 100%, the additional funds will be allocated to the team fund, and, after that, used at the discretion of the Global Outreach Ministry Team.
