Fall Discipleship Groups

Eric Ryan, Executive Pastor, and Ryan Carson, Pastor of Student Ministries, share about the relaunch of student discipleship groups this fall.

Five Ws of Student Discipleship

Who | Defining roles, responsibilities, and opportunities

  • Students | All 6th through 12th grade students with a desire to grow in their walk with Christ.
  • Leaders | Perimeter members who model the F.A.I.T.H. that is required of someone to join a life-on-life missional discipleship group.
    (Faithful, Available, Interdependent, Teachable, Hungry)
  • Parents | Support your student’s commitment to and engagement with their group as a compliment to your own role as their primary disciple maker.
  • Staff | Ryan Carson, Pastor of Student Ministries | ryanc@perimeter.org, 404-444-0086,  Mia Fry, Student Ministries Groups Coordinator | miaf@perimeter.org

What | Envisioning the groups experience

  • Formation | 6-8 students per group. Want the same things from their group time. Similar interests, schedules, age, pressures, city.
  • Frequency | Weekly meeting rhythm. Once-a-month worship night. Holiday breaks.
  • Framework | Two parts to every meeting:
  1. Connect, Check In, Pray.
  2. Turn Their Attention to God, Reflect and Respond, Pray.

Why | The philosophy, values, and principles driving this approach

  • Jesus impacted many by investing deeply in a few young men. The right leaders will model a faith that is rooted and growing, inviting students to follow them as they follow Christ.

Where | The ideal space for connection and growth

  • Comfortable | Circles, not rows. Relaxed, but not too relaxed.
  • Calm | Safe, contained. Free from all sight, sound, and stranger distractions.
  • Consistent | Set apart, familiar, trusted, special. “This is our d-group space.”
  • Middle vs. High | Middle School groups meet at the church. High School groups have the option to meet off-site.
