Obituary

With heavy hearts the Edwards/Miller/Anderegg family share the passing of Angela Lynn Edwards, who entered eternal rest on January 11, 2026. She was 59 years old. Angela is now at peace in the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and furry kids Sydney, Herbie and Echo.

Angela was born on November 6, 1966, in Columbus, Ohio. She spent her formative years in Spartanburg, South Carolina, living close to her Aunt Jane, Uncle Dave and cousins Denise, Debbie and Doug as well as her Grandpa Ray Miller. Very early in her childhood a love for structures, art and color emerged and blossomed into a passion for art and architecture.  Over the years Angela drew, painted and sculpted her way to an invitation to attend the South Carolina Governors School for the Arts, eventually leading to acceptance to the second class at the Savannah College of Art and Design Architecture School graduating with a Masters of Architectural Studies. This path wasn’t an easy one as there were many challenges for a young, female, aspiring architect even being told by a professor that she had no chance of becoming a licensed architect. With sheer grit and determination Angela graduated from SCAD and passed her licensing test and board review at the first attempt.

These challenges ignited a new passion along with Architecture, consisting of shifting the tables and creating environments friendly for women working in the field of architecture and construction. She served in leadership positions with various organizations, Young Architects, Networking for Women In Construction, AIA Atlanta Chapter to name a few. If you were to ask Angela about her most memorable project, she would launch into a diatribe about the Carrie Steele-Pitts Life Learning Center which allowed her free reign for creativity with shapes, color and motion.

Of course, her passion wasn’t just about architecture, her passion for God and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ drove many of her choices including her friends she was close to as well as her marriage to Alistair for nearly 23 years. Her deep faith gave her the courage to battle cancer for 6 years after a stage 4 diagnosis in June 2020. Angela showed unwavering faith and radical dependence on God as she navigated the stormy waters of surgeries and chemotherapy. She often spoke of her healing and ultimate healing if that is the path that God chose for her.

Angela also had a passion for family; especially the annual gatherings at Lake Lure where her expert waterskiing skills were a joy to see if you could get up that early. Angela enjoyed waterskiing even in the middle of a difficult round of chemotherapy which was one example of her grit and determination to overcome cancer. Her final year has been spent traveling to see family and friends including pushing through to ring in the New Year 2026.

She is lovingly survived by her husband Alistair Edwards and furry child Asher, parents Mike and Luann Miller, her sister, Michele Anderegg (John, Ian (Sydney, Rhett), Evan (Lily)); and her brother, Michael Miller, Jr. (Cris, Lucas).
