Obituary
Don Jacobsen was born into a loving and dedicated Christian home. He accepted Christ as his Savior at an early age and by his teens committed his life to serving Him wherever He led. Don considered himself unworthily blessed; “to whom much is given, much will be required.” He was currently on the board of directors for Amerson Ministries, a.k.a “The Word on the Hill.” He served as a consultant to The Jackson Institute for the last 20 plus years.
Don spent 33 years with Western Electric and AT&T, successfully managing organizations in manufacturing, finance, quality engineering and other administrative positions. His final responsibility with AT&T was as director of regional operations, material management and national contracting.
In 1993 he completed three years as COO for Ravi Zacharias International Ministries. This was followed by special assignments with the Ronald Blue & Company and then Fellowship of Companies for Christ International. In 1995 he joined Christian Financial Concepts and was subsequently elected by the board as chief operating officer.
On July 15, 1997, Don accepted a position as consultant to the chief executive officer and owner of Outreach Health Care, Inc., a leading provider of health care services throughout Texas. In January 1999 he assumed the position of president and CEO of Outreach. In March 2000 he joined RightPath Resources, Inc. as chief operating officer for a one-year period ending in 2001.
Don was a member of the Taylor University board of trustees from 1974-2008 and served as Chairman from 1981-1984. The William Taylor Foundation was revitalized under his direction as Chair from 1981 through 1990. He currently served as a trustee emeritus of Taylor. When in the military, he was a special agent in the Counter Intelligence Corps, serving in Japan. During the summer of 1953, he traveled to five Asian countries with a college basketball team promoting Christian understanding and international good will. This was the start of overseas sports evangelism from the United States.
Born in Yonkers, NY, he earned a BA degree from Taylor University and an MS degree from Columbia University’s Graduate School of Business, along with a CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) in 1976.
Don married Shirley Lunde in 1955. They enjoyed living in Japan and throughout the United States until Shirley’s passing in 2017. In 2020 he married Dee Gregory. Combined they have four married children, thirteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. They are both members of Perimeter Church (Presbyterian Church in America) in Duluth, Georgia.
