Obituary For Jacque

Jacque Anderson Shaffer was peacefully promoted to heaven where she is now with her Savior Jesus on Friday, October 11, 2024. She graduated from Washington State University with a teaching degree and earned a Master’s in early childhood education years later. She married Rod Anderson in 1962 and they had daughter Terra and son Matt. She taught elementary school in California, Colorado and Georgia. After almost 40 years of marriage, Rod passed away in 2001; and Jacque subsequently married fellow Turlock High School graduate John Shaffer in 2004. John and Jacque thoroughly enjoyed retired life together.

A remarkable wife, mother and grandmother, Jacque listened intently, encouraged wonderfully and inspired the continual love of learning. She loved gardening, home decorating, sewing, baking cookies and spending quality time with family and friends. Endearlingly named “Grandma Baby Doll,” her life adventures included times at the Butt Lake cabin, a China mission trip, a journey to Israel, multiple cruises and hosting grandchildren’s cousin camps. Combining her passion for the Lord and her love of teaching, she served as a Bible Study Fellowship discussion group leader, Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries volunteer, and a Literacy Action instructor.

She is survived by John Shaffer, her husband of more than 20 years of Dunwoody, GA. She was preceded in death by her first husband Rod Anderson, and son Matt Anderson, both of Dunwoody, GA; brother Kirk Peffers of Denver, CO; and granddaughter Noah Elizabeth Calhoon. She is also survived by her daughter Terra Calhoon (husband Bill) of Huntsville, AL, and their children Andrew (wife Jessica), Michael and Anna Grace; and Nancy Anderson Haq (husband Arif) of Dubai, and their children Jason, Ellie and Kinsey Anderson and Simon Haq; Steve Shaffer of  Livermore, CA; and Scott Shaffer (wife Jodi) of Mountain House, CA and their children Logan, Dylan and Jaden (husband John) and their children Ashlyn, Mateo and Elio; sister Cathy Kirkland (husband Jim Hare) of Portland, OR; and brother Scott Peffers (wife Judy) of Fountain Valley, CA and their children Ryan and Allie.
