Obituary

A beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend, Elizabeth Priya Mellott passed away unexpectedly on May 20 at the age of 23. She was born to Jim and Anita Mellott in Americus, Georgia, on July 14, 1998, then relocated to Suwanee, Georgia, when she was in the third grade.

Graveside services for Priya will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at 4:00 PM at Peachtree Memorial Park, Peachtree Corners, GA. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the Perimeter Church Chapel. A reception will follow the service at the church.

It was Priya’s biggest prayer and deepest desire to be a big sister. From the time Asha was born, Priya was her biggest cheerleader and fan. To say Priya loved being a big sister was an understatement.

Priya was passionate about people, loved everyone, and went out of her way to make those around her feel important. She had a smile that was contagious and instantly brightened up any room.

The passion and love Priya had for others and her personal relationship with the Lord led her into ministry at a young age. In middle school, she began leading worship in KidsQuest—a Perimeter Church ministry for kindergarten through 5th grade. On a mission trip to Guatemala, she worked as God’s hands and feet to those in need. While visiting an orphanage there, she connected deeply to the children, and her commitment to working with the next generation grew even deeper.

Priya continued to live that out as a counselor with Perimeter’s Camp All-American. For several summers she pointed children to Jesus and imparted her love for Christ to them.

Recently, Priya shared that her time in Perimeter’s high school ministry had been some of the most joyful and fulfilling times of her life. While there, she served in many ways, including as a member of the production team at Rush (Perimeter’s summer youth conference led entirely by students). After graduation, her commitment to the next generation continued as she served as a discipler of high school students.

In 2021, Priya graduated from the University of North Georgia with a BS in Film and Digital Media. While at UNG, she had the opportunity to work on several movies in different capacities. She also wrote and produced “Stilleto,” a short film about anxiety that won the Best Student Short Film Award at the Georgia Film Festival. For her final project, Priya developed a semi-autobiographical television series concept about a second-generation Indian-American.

Priya was looking forward to using film and media as a way to minister to others who struggled with health issues—both mental and physical. She was hoping to write a script for a documentary about endometriosis and the struggles that go with it.

Priya loved fiercely, cared deeply and impacted many. She will be deeply missed.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that contributions be made to Rush Student Scholarships, https://www.perimeter.org/give/give-online/
and/or Habitat for Humanity in loving memory of “Elizabeth Priya Mellott”.
