Obituary
Ronald Louis Mock passed away at home on January 27, 2025, at the age of 84.
Ron was a loving father and a devoted husband to his wife, Vicki, for 64 years. They met at Murphy High School in Kirkwood and raised their family in Stone Mountain. Ron is survived by Vicki, and their children Deborah Phillips (Dennis), Jeffrey (Angela), Stephen (Amy) and Brian (Jana) and by their grandchildren Greg Robinson (Lacey), Jonathan (Madison), Caroline, Patrick, Theresa, and great grandson Brantley; as well as his brothers Dennis (Pat) and Wayne (Pam) and many nieces and nephews.
After high school Ron joined the United States Air Force and served overseas in Japan. Upon completion of his tour of duty, Ron worked and attended night school while raising a family. He graduated from Armstrong College with a bachelor’s degree, and a JD from John Marshall Law School. In the late 1970s, Ron founded Insured Benefit Plans, Inc. and Alternative Benefit Plans, Inc. in the early 1990’s; both companies specialize in the design and administration of employee benefit plans. His children maintain those thriving businesses today. Ron also provided leadership to his peers as president of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors; and he and Vicki served as youth group leaders at Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Smoke Rise.
Ron was a competitive, A-Level tennis player and enjoyed the outdoors, especially his time in the mountains of North Georgia at Big Canoe. Ron is remembered by colleagues as trustworthy, deeply knowledgeable in the field of employee benefits, fiercely honest and loyal. His opinions were trusted by his friends, clients and other specialists in his field. Ron and Vicki showed their generous hospitality and concern for others by opening their home to those in need, many of whom became extended family and have kept in touch over the years. He was truly a blessing to those around him. Ron was always available to help a friend and he taught his children that, no matter what you do, give it your all and be the best that you can be.
