Obituary For Sharon

Sharon Hester, 76, passed away in the presence of family on September 7, 2022. She had been treated for metastatic breast cancer for the past six years but continued to enjoy a full life with her family during that time.

Sharon was born and lived almost her entire life in the Atlanta area, including Johns Creek (Suwanee mailing address) for the past 28 years. She was a Registered Nurse and worked most of her 40-year career at Northside Hospital. She served as an RN in Cardiac and Intensive Care for over 20 years. She completed her career as Director of Quality Improvement where she led certification requirements for Northside Atlanta, Forsyth, Cherokee, and numerous NSH facilities across the northern Atlanta area.

Sharon was a devoted Christian. She and her husband, John, have been members of Perimeter Church since 1998. She enjoyed RVing, travel, hiking, photography, gardening, and genealogy.  She especially enjoyed combining hobbies, such as traveling to places with ancestral roots (for John and Sharon), including the southeastern U.S. and many locations in Great Britain, visiting gardens while there, and taking great photographs. She also enjoyed reading, especially historical fiction, and especially if Scotch-Irish based.

Sharon is survived by John (married only 53 years), sons Sean (Suzanne) and Matthew (Courtney), mother Nell Alberson Thomas, grandchildren Lathem, Bella, Calhoun and Mace, sister Marsha Winston (Phil), and brother Sandy Alberson (Susan).

A “Celebration of Life Service” was held on October 7, 2022, at the Perimeter Church Day Chapel, 9500 Medlock Bridge Rd, Johns Creek, GA 30097. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to Samaritan’s Purse “Helping in Jesus’ Name”.  Please visit the memorial page that has been set up in Sharon’s name to do so.
