Obituary

Thomas Albert Donnelly, 84, passed away on August 29, 2024, in Suwanee, GA. Born on August 2, 1940, in Albany, New York, Tom dedicated 30 years of his life to serving his community as a mailman before he pursued his passion for carpentry, specializing in home renovations.

Tom was a devout member of Plainedge Church in Bethpage, NY, where he was deeply involved in various ministries, embodying a life of service and faith. His commitment to his church and community was unparalleled, and his absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew him.

Tom was a loving husband to Ruth E. Donnelly, sharing 49 wonderful years together (28 dating and 21 married). He was a cherished father to Timothy and his wife Kim, Tyler and his wife Shelley, Ted and his wife Robin, and daughters Kim Browne and Karen Sherrill and her husband Walter. He was also a proud grandfather to Logan; Brooksie, Alyssia, Bella and Nikko; Katie and Steven; David and Annie; Jamie, Michael, David, Kevin and Shi along with numerous great grandchildren. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Donnelly and Catherine Mohr Donnelly, his four siblings, Ralph, Henry, Madeline and Louise, and his son, Leonard.

Known for his humor and generosity, Tom had a knack for making everyone he met smile. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, dancing and taking road trips with his beloved wife. His love for ice cream was well-known, a simple pleasure that brought him joy until his last moments. Tom’s life and legacy will be remembered by all as a beacon of kindness and compassion.
