Forward in Faith | Spring 2025

Perimeter high schoolers are taking ownership of their faith.

In March, they met in the outdoor chapel to worship and share testimonies of how the Lord has been moving in their lives.  It was a time of authentic worship that was personal and powerful.

Other times, when the student ministry doesn’t have planned functions, students will gather on their own for a time of prayer and worship. They’ll reach out to other students via group chat or social media and meet in the prayer room at church or outside on campus. They will organize songs and choose someone to lead them. Once, the students met in Newtown Park, where park goers stopped to listen as they worshipped together.

“I show up to these events and desire to be a part of them because they feel very natural,” said highschooler Jordyn Compton. “Usually, they’ve been last-minute ideas that we’ve had, and we don’t have time to work through all the little details, which I find ends up being a good thing. It’s just incredibly fun and encouraging to spend time with other high schoolers who genuinely want to know Christ.”

Tegan Pienaar, Perimeter’s high school leadership coordinator, is incredibly grateful for the adult discipleship leaders and parents who are pouring into these students and hopes many more will come alongside. “Something is happening with our students’ faith. They are tired of the nonsense and want something real.  They are taking their faith seriously and longing for godly men and women who are further down the road spiritually to help them become who God is calling them to be.”

Zion Brown agrees, “We are seeing young people run back to faith. This is not a weak generation. This generation is hungry to know Jesus and has a desire to partner with the older generation to see the kingdom of God come.”

“The Holy Spirit has ignited a hunger in the high school ministry.”
