Forward in Faith | Spring 2025

Thirteen years ago, Perimeter Elder Ace Asip was preparing to retire from a successful, fast-paced career. He faced uncertainty about how to fill his time in retirement, so he spent a year in prayer, seeking God’s guidance for this new season of life.

Ace felt the Lord telling him to serve the poor and elderly. Embracing this calling, he became deeply involved in Perimeter’s ministry at Ivy Hall Senior Living, began leading men’s discipleship groups, and started mentoring elementary students through KidsHope.

When Perimeter launched City Impact, Ace joined the South Forsyth Impact Team. Staying true to his direction, Ace built relationships with administrators at two Forsyth County elementary schools to explore how he and the team could support underprivileged students and their families.

“Over the years, we’ve built a good relationship with the schools,” said Ace. We work with the counselors and administrators to help with items the students can’t afford like school supplies, after-school snacks, water bottles, holiday meals, Christmas gifts. It’s a way to come alongside the kids so they can focus on school.”

Ace continues to mentor students, which is something he encourages other men to do. “Men are very needed as mentors. It’s very fulfilling and a small amount of time and attention can make a huge difference in a child’s life. If people knew how rewarding it was to serve, they would get more involved.”

For more than 25 years, Ace has been a member of Perimeter Church. When asked what he loves most about his church, he responded, “That we are a church that equips its members to serve and be on mission.”

“Through City Impact our desire is to help our members unite with their neighbors and serve the common good.” —Omari Hill, Pastor of City Impact
