OBITUARY FOR JAMES

James Arthur Bodden went to be with His Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Monday, December 27, 2021. Jim passed peacefully at home with his precious wife, Patti Jo, by his side.

Jim was born in Hackensack, NJ to Hugh Edward and Bernice Shirley (Rose) Bodden on November 6, 1951. He grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Oley Valley High School in 1969 and Messiah College in 1974 with a BA in Behavioral Science. Jim was 6’6” and played center on the basketball teams in high school and college.

Jim was introduced to Patti Jo (Forrer) at Thanksgiving time in 1977 by a mutual friend and they were married on August 26, 1978. They have 2 sons Kyle James and Scott David. Kyle and Felicity (Scott) live in The Woodlands, TX, and have 4 children and a son on the way. Mackenzie Charles (9), Dewitt James (7), Darby Anne (5), Reagan Kyle (2), Maddock Arthur (due in March 2022). Scott and Emily (Ash) live in Canton, GA, and have 3 children. Sawyer Scott (9), Elly Joy (7), Easton Ash (4). Jim loved his family dearly. His wife, two sons, daughters in love, and grandchildren were his whole world and brought him so much joy!

Jim has 2 brothers and a sister David E Bodden (June) living in New Albany, OH. Douglas R (Nancy) living in Wyomissing, PA. Barbara L (James) Bodden-Burdick living in New Smyrna Beach, FL. and many nieces and nephews living in the US and abroad.

Jim, Patti Jo, and their sons moved from Robesonia, PA to Evans, GA in 1990 when Jim took a job with Westinghouse Savannah River Site as a Quality Engineer in the Nuclear industry. He retired from Westinghouse in 2005, and after a year of consulting, golfing, and volunteering for Katrina relief, Jim was then employed by CB&I in Jan 2007 once again at the Savannah River Site working on the Mox Project. He made some special friends from those years that remain in touch.

Jim and his family were members at First Presbyterian Church Augusta, GA for 25 yrs. Jim served as a Deacon, and as an Elder. For many years he shepherded the Lakeside Parish and enjoyed fellowship with the many families. Jim served on the Augusta Christian Schools Board of Directors where his sons attended.

Jim loved his Lord and Savior first and foremost and his family was his next priority. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great smile. He did love to golf with Patti more than his guy friends. He’d tell them she was better looking. Jim also enjoyed fishing, biking, and spending time at the lake, and boating. The family shares lots of wonderful memories on the water. Beach vacations at Fripp Island with family and friends are another favorite memory, as well as cruising and traveling with Patti.

Jim had a 6.5-year battle with Parkinson’s Disease and later Lewy Body Dementia. He fought a good fight and Patti was thankful that although the last year was especially tough, God blessed her desire, and he was able to remain at home with her. So thankful he is now with Jesus and all healed, but Jim will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
