Obituary

Zufa Chen, 58, passed away peacefully on the night of January 9, 2024, after his tenacious battle with lung cancer for 6 years.

Zufa was born on October 18, 1965 in Wuhan, China. The youngest among his siblings, he was favored by his family since childhood. He was smart, opinionated, and perseverant. A couple of years after graduating from Wuhan University, he went to Shenzhen in 1989. There he encountered a series of miraculous events which eventually led him to accept Jesus as his Lord, which was rare at that time in China, and changed the whole course of his life. In 1995, he came to study in the U.S. and started his successful business in Atlanta in 2001.

Zufa was a kind-hearted, peaceful man who worked hard and loved his family. He enjoyed traveling, photography and singing. He had served in choir in a Chinese church in Atlanta for many years and had even won awards. He supported charity and made donations to children’s research hospital for decades. Being passionate to see more people turn to Jesus, he often hosted parties at his home to share the gospel.

As Zufa continued renewing his mind with the essence of the gospel, especially during the last year of his life, he gained renewed faith and strength in the Lord, experienced numerous miracles, and bravely joined our church’s mission trip to Belize. Even his closest family was struck by the amazing transformation in him. He battled the sickness and even faced death with courage and joy from the Lord. He truly had fought the good fight, finished his race, and kept the faith to the end. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends and all who were blessed to know him.

Zufa is survived by his lovely wife and three beautiful young children, who by the grace of God were all baptized on his youngest daughter’s birthday, just two months before he went to be with the Lord.
