Lou Ann was born to Leroy (Bill) and Ann Ferguson of Altoona, PA, on August 19, 1934. She completed her nursing education at Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing (Harrisburg, PA) in 1957 and began her career in central Pennsylvania.  She was also introduced to Howard Kosier by his oldest sister, Pat Kosier, a fellow nursing student, and they were married later that year. During Howard’s 4 years in the Marines, they had Keith (born in Quantico) and Kim (born in Oceanside).  After the military, Howard’s work took the family from California to Chicago, then to Edison, NJ, Lewisburg, PA, and western Michigan (Plainwell) through “the college years” before Lou Ann ultimately settled in West Chester, PA.

Along the way, Lou Ann was able to pursue her passions of nursing and interior decorating as she raised her family.  In Edison, she worked at JFK hospital and for a pediatrician in private practice. She also found time to work for an interior designer out of NYC. In Plainwell, she and a friend owned a design and furnishings store called “The Furniture Crate”. Once back in West Chester, Lou Ann finished her career at PIMCO (Pennsylvania Insurance Management Co.) where she became a specialist in assisting quadriplegics, and as a manager of rehab nurses.

She was engaging, determined and always willing to lend a hand.  Whether helping her patients through their therapy, shoveling snow for her neighbors in West Chester, or helping others in need, Lou Ann was about “finding a way”.  She rarely met a stranger and was gifted at making friends, even after the stroke she suffered in 2018 (necessitating her to relocate to Atlanta).  She loved to shop, adored her 3 grandchildren - Emily, Maddie & Olivia - and was passionate about her Fighting Irish football team.

Lou Ann was an amazing daughter, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and friend. Her life and love of her family and friends will always be cherished in the lives of those who knew her. 

Her final days were challenging and we want to thank all our friends and family for their love and support to help us through.  We know Lou Ann held a special place in your heart and we are grateful that you could join us for this celebration of her life – a life well-lived.
