Dear Friends and Family,

God has a way of getting my attention.  This time, it was through the phrase “personal peace” introduced to me recently.  Personal peace, on which American dream is built, can be summed up as to live one’s life with minimal possibilities of being personally disturbed*.  It hit me between the eyes.  I had a vague notion of this pattern in my life, but was unable to put a finger on it.  Now I can name it for what it is.  Even in the realm of missions, I have become very comfortable with being a supporter when I learn of others going on a short-term or long-term mission trips.  Hannah, my 11 year-old, has been asking to go on a mission trip to Guatemala, but I have been secretly reluctant to be inconvenienced.  Overseas mission trip meant that I would open up my life to be disrupted and my heart to be engaged with the troubles of others.  However, I felt the gentle nudge of God; He wants this for me as much as for my daughter or for the people that I may serve during the trip.

This summer, July 10-18, 2020, Hannah and I are going on a mission trip.  Our team is partnering with Medical Missions Ministry in Guatemala to provide medical care to the needy.  We will serve as we share the gospel to patients and family members who are in the waiting area, fill out prescription medicine, provide childcare, lead worship, hopefully visit an orphanage, and pray with and over them all.  As I think about this trip, I am growing in anticipation of witnessing people hearing about Jesus for the first time and coming to trust Him as their Lord and Savior.  I wonder how God would use this trip to expand my scope and lift the horizon of my understanding of, love for and trust in Him.

I want to ask you to partner with me in this journey.  Please pray for Hannah myself, and our team which consists of many young students(11-18yr olds).  We are asking God to align our hearts with His.  Please also pray for those whom we will serve in Guatemala.  Please prayerfully consider supporting financially, but only give as you feel led.  I am so grateful for your partnership and support.  Your prayers will be felt and donations used to build the Kingdom of God.  I would love to update you on the preparation as well as the trip itself in future writing, perhaps in person.

For the mission, my total cost is $2,450, and we are individually responsible for raising our support.  If you would like to join me in this opportunity to bless and be blessed, enclosed is a response card.  To donate online, visit http://perimeter.org/global.  Just choose this journey and my name from the drop-down boxes.  Donations are tax-deductible and must be made payable to Perimeter Church, who is training and sending the team and who requests that this be above your regular tithe and offerings to your local church.  If I raise more than 100%, the additional funds will be allocated to the team fund, and, after that, used at the discretion of the Global Outreach Ministry Team.

Sincerely,

Joanna Park
