Dear Friends and Family,

We hope this letter finds you and your family doing well. I am writing to give you some exciting news about what the Lord is doing in our lives. For the past several years we have prayed and dreamed about the opportunity to serve the Lord through missions together as a family. Kelli and I both have always had a heart for missions and have looked for ways to pass that on to others, especially our children. Some of you may know that our kids are named after missionaries whose lives have been influential in our Christian walk. We wanted their names to be a constant reminder to all of us that our God is a God who loves all people and uses us to share that love with others.

The Lord has answered our prayers and provided us with the opportunity to serve Him as a family in Guatemala this summer with Medical Missions Ministry. During the week of spring break Matthew had a chance to help lead a team of students and teachers from Wesleyan School with MMM in Guatemala. He fell in love with the people of Guatemala and MMM’s heart, vision, and ministry. We were excited to learn that our home church, Perimeter Church, has a 30-year relationship with MMM and will be sending a team the week of May 26th – June 2nd.

We are planning to join this team and are praying that this trip will impact all our lives, especially our kids, as we join God and what He is doing in Guatemala. We long for us all to come home with a deeper understanding of the greatness of our God, a desire to know Him more, a realization of how blessed we are, and a joy that comes from serving Him and loving others.

Medical Missions Ministry has been serving the people of Guatemala for 30 years by providing free medical clinics to those in need in the more remote villages surrounding Guatemala City. Most of the families in these villages live on $2-$3 a day and cannot afford medical help. Each day our family will travel 2-3 hours to one of these villages and will serve the Guatemalan doctors and medical team. We will help set up the clinic in a local church, counsel and pray with the people who come to the clinic after they see the doctors and are waiting to receive their medications, and play and pray with the local children. During these counseling sessions, with the help of an interpreter, we will have the opportunity to read scripture, pray, and share the gospel. We are excited to see what the Lord does in our lives, how He uses our our team, and what He teaches our family through this experience.

The Lord has called us to go, and we are asking you to be part of our team as we embark on this endeavor. First and foremost, we ask for your prayers! We will be sending out prayer updates to our prayer team regularly. Another way that you can help is by joining our financial team and helping with our trip expenses. The trip will cost our family $9,850 If you feel led to be part of our team and contribute towards this opportunity you can do so in a few different ways:

  • Donations of $50.00 or more will qualify as a tax-deductible gift.

Thank you for your considering being part of our team. You can keep up with the progress of our trip and how to pray through our Facebook page “The Means on Mission” (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1719859424720092/). We are so excited about this opportunity to go and serve the nations and spread Christ’s love to others.
