Friends and Family,

Leigh and I are preparing to return to Guatemala again this summer. As many of you already know, Guatemala has become an important part of our lives. We sponsor many facets of the missions in Guatemala and Escuintla specifically.

We will spend a couple of days serving with Medical Missions Ministries, which provides medical clinics in impoverished inner-city and rural villages in Guatemala. Our opportunities include pharmacy support, assisting the dentist, playing with the children, sharing God’s promises and praying for the villagers that sometimes walk for up to two days to reach the clinics. Scott will be able to assist the doctors by meeting with patients or the dentist by assisting with their exams/treatments.

We will also spend a couple of days serving at Mana de Vida, a school for inner city children in Esquintla which gives a high quality, pre-k – 12^th grade education to impoverished children. Our tasks this year will be much like last year where Scott assisted at the Clinic by consulting with patients. Leigh had the opportunity to teach basic self-defense to almost 150 children. Violence is epidemic in their culture and she wants to provide the children with the confidence they need to resist and hopefully defend themselves should such a situation arise. This year, she will have a fellow HapKiDo classmate to assisting her.

In preparation for the trip, we are raising prayer support and financial support. Would you consider praying for us and/or making a financial contribution? Leigh still havs reservations about the trip, even after 3 prior missions. It is out of her comfort zone so I ask for prayer that God moves her comfort zone, or demolishes it.... either way! Pray also for our team: bonding as a team, preparing our hearts, financial support and our cultural studies to help us present ourselves in a manner that will draw them closer to God and not push them away.
