Dear Family and Friends:
As you all know, a large part of my heart "lives" in Tanzania, specifically a litle village called Karansi, nestled in between Mount Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro. There is a school there (newly renamed Siha Christian Leadership Academy) which I visit each summer to help train the teachers and encourage them in their work.
Recently, the work in Karansi has really ramped up as we have built a town library and started a skills center for the village and for our former students who have graduated high school. We are also beginning to minister to the public schools in the area and we are working on ways to train their teachers as well.
This summer I will be going on a two week trip with several teachers. Our first week will be spent in intensive training with the teachers focusing on math and science. The students will be on holiday, so we will have lots of time with the teachers! The second week, the students will return and we will head into the classrooms and observe our teachers implement new strategies and ideas.
I need to raise $3700.00 for this trip (most of that is airfare, as it takes two 9-10 hour flights to reach Kili).
