Dear Friends and Family,

I am thrilled that I am still feel called to go back to Guatemala this summer to work with Dr Alb and his team with Medical Missions Ministries, for a week-long “date with Jesus.”  This year, both my oldest two children will be joining me! They have been eagerly anticipating all of the things that I (and in the last 2 years, Becca and I) have told them about the Journey.  

As part of a group from Perimeter Church, we have the opportunity to assist Dr. Alb’s team in setting up medical clinics in rural Guatemala. These medical clinics bring Guatemalans into the local churches and thru the hands and feet of local doctors and dentists (and perhaps an American pediatrician) the Gospel is shared. Many people ask, “Why?” “Why would they want to hear from us? And “Why would we have any influence?” It used to amaze me that anyone would come, but it was explained to me that Guatemalans themselves are amazed that these crazy Americans who left their first world homes, to come to a third world country to sit perhaps in a church without windows and without air conditioning and speak of a “man” who died 2000 years ago. But then, they have not met this Jesus. They do not know that this world is not our home, and that I am a new creation, because He lives.  

My daughter loved to play and share Jesus with the children of Guatemala- and they surrounded  her! One of my favorite parts of the trips has been serving alongside the young people that come with us-- they willingly serve with palpable excitement, praying and boldly sharing their faith.  My hope and prayer is that my children will be similarly impacted and that they too will see God’s hands at work. I pray that my children will understand that the Gospel is for today and that we are to GO and do His work.

I ask that you join us in this Journey.  First, that you join us in prayer: pray for the hearts of the people we will be in contact with; pray that God would equip me and the team for the work which He has prepared in advance in Guatemala; pray that the people would have ears to hear the Word of the Lord.  Our team may physically “GO” to Guatemala, but for us to accomplish the work, we must have prayer support covering the team, from start to finish.

Second, I ask that you support our Journey financially. The final numbers for our family appear to be $6,600, for all of us.  If you feel led to partner with us financially we very much appreciate you! Please consider joining the team in this way. Perimeter Church, who is training and sending the team, requests that this be above your regular tithe and offerings to your local church.  If we raise more than 100% as a team, the additional funds will be allocated to other individuals on this trip. Hi, I’m Rebecca and I’m going to be adventuring to Guatemala with my mother! I have been wanting to go to Guatemala since I was 6 years old and when I went last year, I did not want to come back. I am very interested in speaking to other cross-culture people and to spread the Word of God throughout all of the places that I visit in my life, and Guatemala is where my journey through sharing the gospel, is going to start.
