Serving With Our Schools

Perimeter Church partners with elementary and middle schools within our City Impact regions with the goal that every child would graduate from high school. Establishing these relationships with area public schools provides an abundance of ways for us to serve, pray and positively influence and bless children and their families. The needs are varied and remain great.

The mentoring ministry through Perimeter Church began a decade ago with a national, non-profit partner, Kids Hope USA. Our leaders have been trained and in turn, train and provide ongoing support and encouragement to volunteer mentors. Each trained mentor engages in a one-on-one relationship with a child at their neighboring school, meeting for just one hour each week.

Reading Encouragement

Perimeter Church has sponsored Book Clubs at local elementary schools for several years. Volunteers who have a love of reading visit select student groups on a weekly basis during the fall and the spring to lead chapter discussions from books selected by their teachers.

Other Ways to Serve, Pray and Bless

Schools and students are facing many varied challenges. Your focused prayers are needed in addition to generously investing your time, talents, and treasures.

  • Prayer Walk Your Local Schools

Download the PDF of how to organize a Prayer Walk.

  • Donate to the Back to School Fund

Funds will be used to meet the unique and critical needs of each school and their students. Many struggling families are not able to provide all that is needed for their students to be prepared for school each day.

Donate to our Back to School fund.

  • Donate School Supplies

Every child needs basic items to be ready to learn and engage at school. In addition to basic school supplies, some basic need items are also critical to help students be focused and, in the classroom, ready to learn.

    Most Needed Items:

    • Crayons
    • Markers
    • Colored Pencils
    • Highlighters
    • Glue Sticks
    • Socks (all sizes)
    • Underwear (boys and girls, all sizes)
    • Feminine Hygiene Products
    • Deodorant (men's and women's)
  • Host A Back-to-School Supply or Basic Needs Drive

As children in our cities return to school there will be individual needs at our local schools. We would love to see our neighborhoods reach out to their local schools, find out what those greatest needs are, then host a neighborhood drive.

This is a great opportunity to invite your neighbors to join you in collecting school supplies or basic needs items like socks, shoes, underwear, personal hygiene items, and feminine hygiene products. These are just a few items that most of us provide automatically for our own children.

As we build deeper relationships in our community through love and service, we can have deeper conversations about the real needs of our children.

Get your kids involved and start collecting these items throughout the summer. Invite your friends. neighbors, and co-workers to join you in helping our kids be ready to go back to school. For more information, or to get started, email Sharon Looney.
